The purpose of this guide is to help you to recover your wallet on your Trezor device. This page applies to Trezor Model T (show for Trezor One).

Recovery refers to the process of using a recovery seed to restore and enable access to already existing accounts.


WarningMalicious websites masquerading as the official Trezor Wallet might ask you to enter your recovery seed in your browser in the order specified by the website.


Do not enter your recovery seeds anywhere unless the physical Trezor device instructs you to do so, and you confirm your choice on your Trezor. Always trust only the instructions on your Trezor device.


Preparing your Trezor for recovery[edit]

My Trezor is new and/or empty[edit]

Your Trezor is ready for you to restore your wallet using your recovery seed. Skip to Recovery process.

My Trezor is initialized[edit]

If you lost your PIN and need access to your accounts, or if you wish to load a different seed onto your device, you need to wipe the memory of your Trezor. See Wiping the Trezor device for detailed instructions.

Important remarks before you start

The entire recovery process is held directly on the Trezor device, which you can operate using its touchscreen. Never type your recovery seed into a computer. If you find a website asking for the words of your backup, it is probably a scam.

Your Trezor device enters the Recovery mode when you initiate the process. Once in the recovery mode, the device stays in the state of recovering a wallet if you unplug the cable from your Trezor Model T.

You can enter the recovery mode, move geographically, and then continue the process after you plug your Trezor device into a power source (it can be a power bank, mobile phone, or even just a plain electrical socket).


Recovery process[edit]

Be sure to have your Trezor connected to a computer or other compatible device and visit Trezor Wallet in your browser.

If your Trezor is not initialized, an option to either create a new wallet or recover an existing one is presented. If the device has already been initialized and you would like to recover a different seed, return to the Preparing your Trezor for recovery section above.

Click on Recover wallet.



Read the instructions, then click on Continue.



Do you remember using the Passphrase feature to protect your accounts in the past? You can check the box right next to "I used passphrase before" to enable this feature now. If you are not sure, leave the box unchecked.

This feature can be turned on at any time in the future. Click on Continue.



Read the Terms of Service and confirm the action using the touchscreen on your device by tapping the greencheckmark.

ImportantRemember, you should never even touch your written backups until you confirm this action on your device. Beware of websites and applications that ask for the words of your recovery seed. Always look for instructions and confirmations on your physical Trezor device.


Your device is now in the "recovery mode". You may unplug your Trezor device and continue the process later after you power it up. Internet connection is not necessary to complete the process; You can power your Trezor using a power bank or any ordinary electrical socket. Click onSelectto continue.

Select the number of words used in your recovery seed. Typically, this would be 12, 18, or 24 for classic single backup recovery seeds. If the sequence of words in your backup consists of 20 or 33 words, continue the recovery process in Recovering a wallet with Shamir Backup.


Enter the individual words of your seedon your device, following the instructions displayed on the touchscreen of your Trezor. To type the word "best"(example), you would:

  • Tap the "abc" tile two times to enter the letter "B".
  • Tap the "def" tile two times to enter the letter "E".
  • Tap the "stu" tile once to enter the letter "S".
  • Tap the "stu" tile two times to enter the letter "T".

Because the words of your recovery seed are drawn from a finite list, your device can predict the word and offer you a suggestion. To confirm, tap the tile with the suggested word in the top-right corner of the touchscreen.

Congratulations! You have successfully loaded the wallet on your device. You can now access your accounts using the Trezor Wallet interface or a third-party application of your choice.

Once you have successfully recovered your wallet, continue the setup by enabling the basic security features, and customizing your experience.
