Trezor Wiki/User/User manual/ Advanced settings

The purpose of this article is to help the user to configure the advanced settings in Trezor Wallet.

Several advanced settings can be configured after setting up your Trezor device. You can access Advanced settings in Trezor Wallet by clicking on the name of your device and then clicking on the Advanced tab. Below is a short description for each of the functions.

Firmware version[edit]

This section tells you the current version of your Trezor device firmware. For more information about changes in firmware, see Firmware changelog and Updating the Trezor device firmware.

Passphrase[edit]

In this section of Advanced settings, you can set up your passphrase protection. For more information about the use of a passphrase, see also Passphrase, Using passphrase, and our blog article.

For advanced security measures using passphrase protection, see Multi-passphrase encryption (hidden wallets).

Disable PIN protection[edit]

In advanced settings, it is possible to disable PIN protection. However, it is not recommended to do so. PIN protection reduces the risk that a person with physical access to your Trezor could gain access to your cryptocurrency funds. Trezor Wallet asks you for your PIN every time you plug in your Trezor device. Your computer never learns your PIN.

Check recovery seed[edit]

You can run a simulated recovery to check your recovery seed. We recommend doing this before every firmware update. For more information about the dry-run recovery, see Dry-run recovery or the blog article blog article.

Wipe device[edit]

This button allows you to wipe your device. For more information, see Wiping the Trezor device.
